Andy Eser was an honor student in the Spalding class of 2001 and the captain of both the lacrosse and
football teams.
In October 2000, while driving home from football practice, Andy was killed by a driver who
crossed the center line and
ran into his car.
Practice had just finished with Andy catching a touchdown pass and doing a dance in the end zone to celebrate.
He set his own style and had his own way of doing things and he earned the respect of his peers.
Andy volunteered as a counselor for the Special Olympics, was an SGA representative, a member of the Key Club ,
the German Club, and was elected to the National Honor Society.
Andy’s # 7 lacrosse jersey and his # 48 football jersey were retired by Archbishop Spalding
at the first annual Andrew Eser Lacrosse Tournament in 2001.
Proceeds from this tournament will be donated to a memorial scholarship fund
in Andy's
name for
seniors
who exhibit outstanding character. |
